Right to Choose: ADHD/ASD Guidance - An Introduction
What is Right to Choose (RTC)?
The "Right to Choose" means you can select your healthcare provider for an autism or ADHD assessment. If your GP refers you, you can choose from NHS or private providers who work with the NHS. More information is available on the NHS website.
RTC allows individuals referred by a GP to choose an NHS-funded provider across England.
Do You Need an Assessment?
If you believe you or a child in your care may suffer from autism or ADHD and are seeking an assessment, we've compiled some helpful resources below:
Understanding the Process
Your GP will assess your concerns and health before making a referral. They will provide a list of RTC provider options. Before choosing, check the provider's website for location, quality of care, and adherence to NICE Guidelines ADHD Assessment and NICE Guidelines Autism Assessment. Some providers require a referral form from your GP. Additional information or forms may be requested later.
Please note that due to the volume of referrals, it can take up to 6 weeks for our medical secretaries to process these.
